お茶会

　今日はお茶会がありました。特別講座・茶道のメンバーが、毎学期１回、和服を着てお手前を披露するのです。午後クラスの学生は午前中に、午前クラスの学生は午後に、その学期に身に付けた作法にのっとってお客様をおもてなしします。
　そういうわけで、今日は１０時ごろから和服姿の外国人が学校内をうろうろしていました。特に初級の女子学生は、あでやかな和服を着るとうれしくてたまらないようで、教師たちに見せて回っていました。そういう学生を見ていると、こちらまで気分が浮き立ってきます。
　私は今日は学生対応やら授業やらで参加することはできませんでしたが、お茶室で正座してお茶を待っていると、緊張するものです。日本人の教師ということで、正しい作法を見につけていることが期待されているのでしょうが、私はこの方面の心得が全くないので、プレッシャーがかかるのです。
　逆に、作法どおりに美しくかつ無駄なく動いている学生を見ていると、感激すら覚えます。日本文化に深い興味を示してくれた学生に感謝したくなるのと同時に、私たちが教えているのは日本語だけじゃないんだなと改めて感じさせられます。
　茶道に限らず、ＫＣＰでは日本の文化にも目を向けてもらうことに重きを置いています。日本でしかできない勉強、ＫＣＰで学ぶことの付加価値は何なのか、そういうことを考えながら日々の活動をしています。
