上級のアクセント、イントネーション授業

毎週金曜日は、上級のクラスでアクセント・イントネーションの練習をします。まず、２００字ぐらいの文章のところどころにある空欄に入る単語を聞き取らせます。そして、その単語のアクセントを答えさせます。これがかなりできるようになりました。
文章の意味を確認した後、こんどは正しい日本語のイントネーションでその文章を読む練習をします。私が読んだとおりに読ませます。はじめは文をいくつかに区切って、それから一つ一つの文ごとに、そして、文章全体と読む長さをだんだん長くしていきます。テキストにはイントネーションの記号がついているので、できる学生は、完全とは言わないまでも、それに近い読み方ができます。
正しいイントネーションで読むというのは、私のイントネーションを聞いて、それをそのまま口から出すという作業でもあります。これは頭を使いすぎてはいけません。耳と口を直結させることが必要です。ゆっくり慎重にというよりは、一気に大胆に読んでいったほうがきれいなイントネーションになりやすいようです。
夏のスピーチコンテストで最優秀賞を取ったマレーシアのＣさんは、さすがにうまいですね。中国のＧさんは、イントネーション記号の読み方が身についているのか、上手に読んでくれます。韓国の学生では、Ｈさんが「一気に大胆に」というコツを一番よくつかんでいるようです。練習の時間におしゃべりをしていたＫさんは、どうしても韓国語のイントネーションが出てしまい、何度もやり直しをしなければなりませんでした。
これは漢字と同じで、練習すれば効果が確実に現れるもののようです。学生のみなさん、是非、街の中でその効果を発揮してみてください。
